CPPA-G Seeks Rs2.5624 per Unit September Fuel Adjustment; NEPRA Hearing Set for 29 October
NEPRA posted on 17 October a notice of hearing on the Central Power Purchasing Agency's request for a September 2026 fuel charges adjustment for the ex-WAPDA distribution companies. The hearing is on 29 October at NEPRA Tower in Islamabad, with online participation, and the Authority will decide the rate after hearing objections.
CPPA-G reports actual fuel cost of Rs10.0220 per unit delivered to the distribution companies against an approved reference of Rs7.4596, a gap of Rs2.5624 (10.0220 - 7.4596). Generation was 13,217 GWh and net delivery to the distribution companies 12,760 GWh, so 457 GWh, about 3.5 per cent of generation, did not reach them. On those 12,760 GWh the requested rate works out to roughly Rs32.7 billion before any prior-period adjustments.
Hydropower supplied 4,834 GWh, the largest share. Imported coal produced 2,155 GWh at a cost of Rs37.142 billion, or about Rs17.23 per unit. Under federal policy guidelines on uniform fuel adjustments, whatever NEPRA decides for the ex-WAPDA companies would also apply to K-Electric consumers.
